Awards: Why you should shout about your successes

Awards: Why you should shout about your successes

Another awards season is drawing to a close, with the onset of winter and the approaching yuletide festivities. Even if entering awards isn’t your bag, you can’t scroll for a few minutes on LinkedIn without seeing myriad celebration or ‘proud to announce’ posts.

I have to tell you now, I’m one of those people who’s been shouting my good news from the rooftops (and splashing it across my social profiles). The last few months have been good to Red and White Media:

  • We were named as the South England Prestige Awards 2025/26 Winner of the ‘Copywriting Service of the Year’ category.
  • I was named as the Highly Commended runner-up in the ‘Copywriter of the Year’ category at the Digital Women Awards 2025.
  • I was also pleased to receive one of ten Digital Women's ‘Community Champion’ Awards.

I just know that some of you will be rolling your eyes and thinking, ‘So what?’ Well, shouting about the success that you achieve is actually really important. Let me tell you why:

Boost visibility and brand awareness

Talking about your award gives you a reason to post on your socials, write a blog, update your website, or send a customer newsletter. The possibilities are endless, and it all keeps your business in front of your potential customers.

Build trust and credibility

Awards are proof that a business is doing something right. When you get recognised for the quality of your work, it reassures your existing and potential clients that you are a ‘safe pair of hands’ with which to trust their hard-earned cash.

Break through the noise

If you’re in a crowded sector (hello, fellow copywriters!), then award wins back up your claims that you’re good at what you do. Anyone can talk the talk, but walking the walk will set you apart from your competitors in a busy marketplace.

Encourage client confidence

A business owner will feel pleased as punch when they win an award, but many overlook the fact that clients will also be proud of their achievements. It feels great to work with an award-winning business! Benefits could include increased brand loyalty, repeat business and extra work.

New opportunities calling!

Awards naturally attract attention, and this puts you, your team, and the company in the spotlight. Who knows who’s watching and waiting in the wings, ready to collaborate or work with you!

A win for your team

If you’re doing leadership right, a win for you is also a win for your team. It illustrates how much their hard work matters and can also lift morale and improve your workplace culture.

Hopefully, this highlights just how important it is to broadcast your success, but it comes with a caveat. It’s important to remember that, as you won, other people didn’t. Try to avoid gloating or bad-mouthing your competition. It shouldn’t need to be said, but I have seen some rather questionable posts on social media from businesses that trashed their competitors and cast doubts on their fellow finalists' abilities and skills.

Please don’t do this. It will backfire on you, because nobody wants to work with someone who can’t celebrate other people and what they do - even getting into the final of an award is a major achievement that should be celebrated, not mocked!

If you need a hand to write a press release and shout about your award win, or any other piece of good news, get in touch. We are communications specialists, as well as copywriters, and we know how to write and distribute a press release to get you the attention that you deserve.
