Summary
I’m a senior HR professional with over 20 years’ experience supporting growing businesses through change, complexity and everyday people decisions.
My background spans professional services, property, infrastructure and SME environments, often in standalone or trusted HR partner roles. I’ve built HR functions from scratch, supported boards and leadership teams, and worked closely with managers who want clear, human HR—not corporate process for its own sake.
I specialise in:
- HR operations and compliance that fit the business
- Performance management and manager capability, including early intervention and difficult conversations
- Practical employee relations support
- Recruitment and talent management
I’m known for bringing clarity, sound judgement and calm into situations where decisions feel sensitive or high-risk. Good HR should help leaders act early, fairly and with confidence.
I co-founded LongviewHR to give SMEs access to senior HR expertise without the corporate overhead — flexible, pragmatic and built for long-term partnership.

Daniel Watney LLP
Head of HR
21 - 100 Employees 2017 - 2025At Daniel Watney, I led the full HR function within a multi-disciplinary professional services partnership, supporting Equity Partners and senior leaders across the entire employee lifecycle — from attraction and onboarding through to performance, development and exit.
I built the HR framework from the ground up, establishing practical HR operations and compliance structures tailored to the needs of the business. This included implementing a new HRIS platform to improve data accuracy, reporting capability and operational efficiency, enabling more informed and confident people decisions.
I embedded performance and appraisal processes to strengthen accountability and manager capability, supporting early intervention and more effective handling of difficult conversations.
My core focus areas included:

Interests and Hobbies
Outside of work, I value time with family and friends — whether that’s hosting long lunches, planning weekend escapes or celebrating milestones together (preferably somewhere with good food and music).
I enjoy upcycling and gardening — there’s something satisfying about nurturing growth and giving things a second life. I’m currently learning Tai Chi, embracing the patience and balance it requires, and I love baking (with mixed success), especially when there’s an excuse to share it.
I’m naturally curious and enjoy continual learning, whether that’s developing a new skill or simply exploring something that stretches me a little outside my comfort zone.
And I have a well-known appreciation for good cheese and great conversation — both essential ingredients in my view.
